Been 38c past couple days here, but I think I found a way to drop temps a few c with the 180Mh settings.
If you are running 847 mem, set SoC Frequency to 860 in over clocks
thanks to this post for very helpful information by ss-silver
coming from eth mining rig to ergo is actually more stable but runs with more power
followed ss-silver’s guide and tweaks and i’m able to have a stable rig, most cards will not work under 900 mv, so i pushed a little further with the memtweaks, but only with samsung chips. RCDRD will crash at 9. 10 is the lowest i can go.
Excellent post. I’ve got 3 rigs with 12x Vega 56s and 12x Vega 64s getting 4.7 GH/s after a day of tweaking. Vega 56s are stable with 1400 core, 900-920 VDD, and 920-930 Mem. Vega 64s (flashed to Vega 56) are stable with 1400-1500 core, 900-920 VDD, and 920-990 Mem.
@ss-silver I tried your straps and followed TRM guide to OC, but your straps did not work. It crashes, not even with the lowest oc recommended. I was playing with the VDD also and I had no luck. I have a Gigabyte Vega 56 and Samsung Memory. The best result I could get is with the default straps of TRM, these are my settings:
So first a power disclaimer… I dont own any gigabyte but my understanding is they just display wattage used by the whole card, unlike the rest of vegas which display only the wattage of the GPU die, and not the fans, lights and power loss from the memory controller and VRM.
So if you are using any splitters, or an 8pin to 2 6+2 pin to power this GPU I would not recommend pushing power this high. 8 pin cables are “recommended” 150w max, regardless if they have 16 or 8 pins on the other end. Probably fine to push higher than “recommended max” but should be plenty safe if you have 2 8pin cables powering this card, as that can safely carry 300w.
Having said that might not be worth the extra wattage per hash but if you really want to see if that card can do 200 and assuming vdd 925 is the minimum you can run 1300 core stable at:
Core: 1440
VDD: 970
Mem: 960
If it mines start dropping vdd by 10 until you find the minimum its stable at.
If that wont mine or crashes, bump VDD up by 10 & restart the miner until it starts mining. If the VDD level gets too high for you drop core to 1420, or next step down would be 1400core 930mem. I’m guessing you end up around 1400 / 960 / 930 for 190-195Mh, or might need a crazy value like vdd 1000+ to mine at 200.
@alireda - If you are using a different miner, switch to Team Red Miner.
@rakjung23 - you should flash the 64 with a 56 bios. More hash, less watts and more stable and it only takes like 5 minutes to flash a 56 bios. If you have never flashed a bios this is a good guide to do it safely in HiveOs.
4 & 5 on this rig are 64s flashed to 56, just installed a MORPHEUS II cooler + 2 120m Noctua fans on GPU4, at 200Mh slightly lower temps than my Rog Strix. love it! might buy one more of those for GPU 5.
Wow, that is an admirable rig.
I’m wondering what you have SocMhz set to? On my 5* Vegas I have always been able to get 180 Mhs @ 129W with core 1300, vdd 850, SocMhz 850, MemMhz 847.
On some I can get away with vdd 825, while others can only do 170 Mhs but use 119W.
