My 3080 suprim OC settings, advice welcome

Hey everyone (I’m new here so take it easy  ),

I’ve been fiddling around with my new 3080 on phoenixminer and have collected some data on OC settings. Here are my results:

hash temp fan w core mem pl
98.32 44 70 240 -200 2200 240
95.05 40 70 209 1075 1500 225
94.75 41 70 225 -200 2200 225
98.68 40 70 214 1075 2200 225
99.96 40 70 217 1075 2450 225
100.2 42 60 216 1075 2500 220
100.9 42 60 217 1075 2640 220
101.2 42 60 218 1075 2700 225
102.2 42 60 219 1075 2900 240
102.4 42 60 219 1075 2950 225 :ballot_box_with_check:
102.4 42 60 219 1075 2960 240
102.3 42 60 219 1075 2970 220
102.5 43 60 220 1075 3000 225 :ballot_box_with_check:
102.5 43 60 221 1075 3400 240
102.5 43 60 222 1075 4100 240

I am between the two checked settings. What’s your opinion?

At 3000 mem clock and 220 PL, hashrate seems to vary between 102 and 102.5, whereas with 225 PL, it gives me a steady 102.5.

As i cannot monitor mem temps, i stuck a fan and two small (4x4cm?) heatsinks on the backplate, on the two sides of the gpu where it got hot (easily touchable with bare hands).

Is that a good sweetspot to leave it alone?
Any concerns about the card’s wellbeing?

Thanks in advance.

Hi,

I have been locking the core at 1060 and mem at 2700, hashing at 101.2 for like 3 months straight and it’s very stable for me, glad to know it can be more optimized like you did above. Will try and see if it can keep up.

Edit: With locking core @1075 and memory @2950, i got 102.63 stable on Gminer. Power at the wall, which i guess is about ~260w, while it reports 220w in the software.

What is your room temperature? That core temp around 42 C is really cool! I got my card on water cooling so temperature is never an issue.

@Yamaruan your GPUs are watercooled running on linux HiveOS? If so, any specific configs or no different to it’s vanilla GPU fan cooling?

No, nothing special, you just have alot more headroom to OC the card and never have to worry about thermal throttling or summer or anything. Water is the way to go if you live in hot climate country.

Thanks for your reply. I’m glad to know I don’t need to run on Windows for converting to liquid cooling.

Are your GPUs Nvidia or AMDs? On the Fan setting in HiveOS for each GPU, you leave empty or put 0?

I have a mixed rig of rtx3080 and rx6800, all of them are water cooled so, the radiator fans are all setup externally so nothing to do with fan setting in the mining OS. Why don’t you lock the core at 1075 and just ditch that high power limit?

Hi… water cooling?.. can you give us some tips on how you did that?

Is it safe to push memory to 2900/3000?

See for yourself, as long as it’s not crashing every day or two or getting a bunch of bad shares then it’s fine. You need to control core temp and vram well enough to push it that high
