Stale rate lower with EU vs US server

I am located in the Eastern United States and have been using the North American server, which I understand to be in Quebec, Canada.

About two weeks ago, my stale share rate started increasing to over 3% but never higher than 4%.

Two days ago, I switched my four rigs to connect to the EU server, and the stale rate has dropped to under 2%.

Ping times show the North American server to be closer. Any thoughts as to why I would get a lower rate?

Load on the NA server?

I’m east coast and my stale shares are up to 4% so I switched 500mh/s to another pool and it’s only been 1.5% stale there. It’s pretty well documented on Reddit that people are leaving hiveon due to 3.5% stale shares becoming normal.
