Vega 56 and Vega 64 guide

thanks for taking time…i made my day a “VM_L2 Protection falt” dissappear after i found a tiny trash of copper right on Mosfet connection…running without error let’s OC now…
What is the “0” of 850/0?

i have a msi vega 64 and when trying to install 56 firmware it shows “P/N mismatch” & “Subsystem mismatch”. Any ideas?

@oni lol yeah i’ll think about that, i’m dealing with this outside of HiveOS, for testing…
Ubuntu LTS Server 18.04.5 / AMDGPU 19.50 + Rocm 4.1…
I’m going with PPT (pp-table @/sys/class/drm/card*/device) + amdgpu-clocks

If you just post a picture like this of your cards so we can see the brand, memory type, OCs and hashrate we can just tell you what your doing wrong.

These 3 Vega have not thrown any invalid or crashed since i set the new OCs over a week ago.

GPU 4 is a 64 flashed to 56 needed RCDRD 17 to run at 1028
GPU 5 stock bios, RCDRD 13, just because 12 was throwing occasional invalids
GPU 6 stock bios, wont even mine and then crashes the rig at 1028, but can run 1020 all day, with with RCDRD at 12.

If you have Samsung memory and want to run over 1k mem but are having crashes your RCDRD is likely too low for that mem setting, If you have Hynix and are trying to run over 1k mem and RCDRD at 12 that’s why its crashing.

For the Samsung I would start with this strap and mem at 1020 if that runs fine for 20 min:

  1. Stop the miner
  2. Lower RCDRD by one
  3. Start the miner
  4. Let it run for 20 minutes, & repeat until it crashes or throws invalids.
Then you know your cards limit for RCDRD at higher mem and can see if that card can run 1028.

amdmemtweak --CL 20 --RC 37 --RP 11 --WR 14 --CWL 8 --FAW 12 --RAS 20 --REF 65535 --RFC 248 --RTP 5 --RRDL 6 --RRDS 3 --WTRL 9 --WTRS 4 --RCDRD 17 --RCDWR 12

yes, read above  it has been asked and answered multiple times (I know, the thread already counts >400 posts, but there is more interesting info in there than only this), you need to enable force flash toggle in the bios flash screen.

Maybe @vsimovic can update the first post with all new info and especially this :sunglasses:

i ended up with something like this outside of HiveOS…
Updating drivers to amdgpu-20.40 / Ubuntu LTS 18.04.5…Still waiting for 1 Hour round to validate!
I you have any improvement for me i take it gladly…

Dont drool about temps i use rajintek 8057 custom heatsink!

Thanks for your time

TeamRedMiner could get you some more MH/s.
I’m drooling on those temps anyway

He is using TRM i see the Bmode in there  , just mining to the ethermine pool.

Biggest difference I see is you are not on HiveOS. This is a HiveOS forum…

So if you are not getting the same performance with the same settings, might want to download the HiveOS image and boot to that OS, and the see if that fixes it for you.

HiveOS is free for your first rig and all the Overclock settings and amdmemtweaks have easy to use frontend inputs, made my life alot easier, now I can just copy the setting from people in this forum with the same cards and better OCs than me

##edit##

i have some problems with the sangle
when i applied it directly in the overclock, i have a error message

Hello.

I just do not understand ho are are able to flash these damn ASUS RX VEGA 64 STRIX 8Go!!
All my flashes on Vega 56 work… but not for this ASUS VEGA 64!!!
I force the flash ==> Seems to work.
But when the card starts, it just do NOTHING until I reflash it with the initial rom…
I have tried this with the BIOS switch on both positions :frowning:
Any idea??

And of course, until not flashed… impossible to use amdtweak…

@jokersteph083 update your OS.

i had problems with that same card, i belive u need to have bios switch facing towards power connectors, when i did that it started to work

Thank you @Smining570! I tried with both positions; nothing worked ;-(
Have you tried with a specific rom?

vbio

I think it was this one that went thru…not sure tho…sorry, dont remember now

Thank you! Ill try tonight. !!! After all, just another one
I’ll keep you updated!

this one is power hungry model, loads of problems all the way from the start, might be that it needs a nother tuning when it has been running a bit longer…dunno, decent hash when its not giving headaches

Are those straps the one u use in ur gigashit gaming oc? I have the same card, Samsung mem. Cant take it further than 46mhs

I would like to but cant anymore. Also need to try this all out first myself and write a comprehensive update
