hmmmm yea its a very expensive card to replace and i am getting 40MH on it so myabe I just leave it or swap it out with my gaming PC’s 1070
Hi everyone
I have the same troublesome Gigabyte Vega 64
This is what I get (best Hash/Watt ratio)
It can get up to 53Mh but not stable
I use BIOS: from 56
Straps default HIVE: amdmemtweak --CL 20 --RC 36 --RP 14 --WR 14 --CWL 8 --FAW 12 --RAS 22 --REF 65000 --RFC 249 --RTP 5 --RRDL 6 --RRDS 3 --WTRL 9 --WTRS 4 --RCDRD 14 --RCDWR 12
It is on TRM and use default mode not B variant. B adds 2 more W.
Method at the top of this thread gets it to around 52 but with whopping 180w
Does anyone have any idea how to reduce the power at least a bit more?
I’ve got the Gigabyte Gaming OC RX Vega 64 flashed with Vega 56 bios, got your exact settings and timings except my core voltage can not go lower than 800, pretty similar hashrate but my power consumption is worse than you
Speaking openly - this cards are very troublesome and I already got rid of mine.
But have you applied straps?
Yeah basically what I meant with timing is the strap, exactly as yours lol, anyway after 12 hours of running, miner side was ok but a lot of stale shares on the poolside, had to lower the memory oc to 910 (got 49.66 mh/s). Power consumption doesn’t changed tho. Will do further testing. Cheers.
This was my last position:
Are you sure that you apply straps correctly. If not built in HIVE ones then you have to do it after every start. I also tried every strap config suggested on this page. Also are using Phoenix? Remove the NVIDIA and try on its own with TeamRedMiner.
I tweaked the strap from someone else in this forum. A little bit different from yours. core overclock with 1000 and 1050 doesn’t change anything so I stay with 1000
For this test I’m using latest hive os image & TRM exclusively only on the Vega, other gpus are using phoenix right now because phoenix only gives 46 mh/s for the vega.
I managed get 50.34 mh/s with 930 memory but only run for 1 hour and a lot of stale shares from the pool before crashed the entire rig (gpu 0 detected dead) with 13 gpus which is too much hassle for only 1 problematic vega IMO.
My last stable tweak 49,67 mh/s with 910 memory. Still can not go core voltage under 800, but this settings get 1-2% stale shares from pool side (mainly 0 stale shares) for about 4 hours. hope it’s stable from now on. Maybe it’s just a luck from the pool but with lower to none stale shares my reported hashrate from the pool is 49.7 mh with average 50.3 mh so to my understanding is I just need the most stable possible hashrate to get maximum shares and then maximum profit, CMIIW.
My best advise would be - get rid of it It does not worth a struggle it causes.
safe choice bud, i would defo anyways flash it and get like 10-15mh more lol. good luck with your mining and lets hope for good profits, it is a good gpu for ergo anyways allso, that have been more profitable every now and then lately…
Hi, I Bought a strix oc 56 flashed with 64 bios.
I’m getting crazy in trying to flash it back to stock bios 56 . I can’t have it mining so far, continue reboot when I add it to the rig with the other 56, same result when I try to mine with only that one.
I get the mismatch error, tried to force with the cmd trick but without result… after the last enter it shows briefly the window stating the programming is running and then nothing happens anymore and the bios remains unchanged.
Is there another walk around that someone knows?so frustrating .
Ok nvm I figured out I dumbly used 56 straps… I configured it like a 64 and now I runs at a bit more 50mh I can live with that.
Still, should someone have an idea why this card refuses to be flashed back I’m curious.
Cheers
0Lucifer0, thanks for this! I got 55 MH at 122w with your settings, flashing 64 to 56, and switching to TeamRedMiner! Before I was only at 48 MH at 130w.
is it moded
Hey anyone care to help a vega noob here? So far i managed to flash my Gigabyte Vega 64 blower to Gigabyte Vega 56 Blower… The card i running in a very cold room and the temps are below 65c on both the core and the hbm. It’s getting 42mh/s with 900mhz and 1250mv on the memory but anything above that and it will crash my machine instantly… The problem is it powers off my display and you have to manually reset it and that’s a big problem for me since i’m away from home and i’m working on the rig remotely… Youtube videos and reddit posts are talking about 50+ mh/s with memory clocks of 1000+ could my card be so degraded? Anyone please give me some pointers…
Best I could get out of my Gigabyte blower is 46.5 mH/s . Here’s my settings: Core 1080 , Core mV 850 , Mem clock 930 , amdmemtweak --REF 8000
This could probably be better but I crashed this card so many times that once I got it stable I gave up tweaking it and spent my time on other things. Good luck. If you come up with something better please post it here because info on Gigabyte blowers is few and far between.
Well actually i got it to 56mh/s then got greedy and tried to push for a little more… Now it crashes instantly with these settings… I have a feeling that each time the miner starts you need to start low and push little by little I was stable until 1065 at the memory and i went for 1075… That was is The amdmetweak settings play a huge role since without proper timings you wont be able to push the frequency…
What kind of tweaks did you run when you were stable?
The same as when i wasn’t stable If i flash back the stock 64 bios, wont the raised HBM voltage help with stability at high clocks? I mean lets say i dont care about power consumption, would i achieve better clocks with the 64 bios?
These are the settings i use now that are kinda stable for 53mh/s
amdmemtweak --CL 20 --RC 38 --RP 12 --WR 14 --CWL 8 --FAW 12 --RAS 26 --REF 20600 --RFC 244 --RTP 6 --RRDL 5 --RRDS 3 --WTRL 9 --WTRS 4 --RCDRD 13 --RCDWR 12
you have to remove the display from the card, the speed will raise when no display is attached.
Got better straps and managed to get up to 58mh/s… i also found a way to raise the hbm voltage to stock vega 64 1.35v
